Recent NXT Injuries Possibly Part Of WWE Storyline

Following NXT’s debut show on the USA Network on Wednesday, WWE revealed that several of their wrestlers had sustained injuries.

Arturo Ruas and Velveteen Dream are both reportedly injured following their matches with Pete Dunne and Roderick Strong respectively.

WWE has claimed that Kona Reeves also picked up a knock in his dark match with Damian Priest.

Many thought it was strange that WWE would announce that three of NXT’s superstars were out with injuries at the crucial time for the brand ahead of AEW’s TNT debut on October 2nd.

However, PWInsider has speculated that this might be part of a big storyline, with the injuries not being legitimate:

“If WWE’s idea here is to fill in blanks on why characters disappear for a bit, it’s a smart idea, even if the injuries are storyline.”

This could actually be a very smart move on WWE’s part, as it could be an excuse to not have a top star like Velveteen Dream on TV every week, something that might over-expose his character.

Another suggestion is that WWE wants to replicate AEW and have NXT feel more sports-like. This could be why they announced a few injuries following the first show, something that could happen following an MMA fight.
