Recently Departed WWE Star Says Triple H Was ‘Never A Big Fan’ Of His Character WWE

In his first full interview since officially departing the company, a former WWE star has claimed that Triple H was “never a big fan” of his character.

On Sunday, June 1, Carlito announced via social media that his WWE contract was not being renewed when it expired two weeks later.

With the former Judgment Day member officially confirming his WWE exit yesterday (June 15), he appeared on Busted Open Radio and discussed his most recent tenure in the company at length and covered a range of topics.

When comparing his most recent WWE run to his first, Carlito cited the positive change in atmosphere in the locker room as a major difference, saying he was much happier coming to work, something he attributed to Triple H and AEW’s presence as an alternative place to work outside of WWE.

Carlito said:

“It was weird, showing up to work happy,” it was just, you know, just all the tension and just all the old school bullshit… people walking around on eggshells, you know, because it was the only game in town. And they like, they like the boys, knowing that…

“Now that, you know, with AEW being around too, it’s helped. You know, they can’t bully, because [there’s] a place for people to go… But I think Hunter [Triple H] has done a good job, too, of just cleaning all that crap out… it’s a new generation, you just can’t get away with certain things you can before… A bunch of that BS is gone now, and people just go there, show up and do the work.”

While he had a much more positive experience in WWE this time around, Carlito admitted to being disappointed at how his storyline with The Judgment Day ended, saying the lack of payoff is a “disrespect to the fans”.

He continued:

“I wasn’t too surprised or too shocked, you know, I mean, I signed for two years, and it actually went better than I then I thought it would go.

“The only thing is, I’m a professional… they could have told me, and I would have… at least let me finish out the story for the for the Judgment Day so they can keep on going,” he stated. “I think it’s a disrespect to the fans that… they somebody just dropped storylines.”

When discussing his comedic role within The Judgment Day, Carlito revealed that his character was made up of his own ideas, with WWE’s writers allowing him freedom to “Carlito-Fy” segments he was involved in when they had nothing specifically for him.

Despite his enjoyment in the role, Carlito he said that Triple H was “not a fan” of the his WWE character:

“I’m not getting pushed and and Hunter is not a fan of Carlito, I think, personally, he likes me, but I think he never was a big fan of the character.”

Carlito’s second tenure in WWE began with his surprise return at Backlash 2023 in Puerto Rico, providing backup to Bad Bunny during his San Juan Street Fight with Damian Priest.

He reportedly re-signed with the company that Summer and would make his return proper at WWE Fastlane in October 2023.
