Released WWE Star Refuses To Return While Vince McMahon Is In Charge WWE

If WWE ever wants to have a hope of re-signing Maria Kanellis Bennett, they’ll need to make sure Vince McMahon is no longer in charge.

In response to a fan who asked her whether she would ever consider returning to WWE, Maria responded:

Since Vince McMahon “stepped down” as CEO & Chairman while an investigation into his conduct is conducted, Kanellis has been vocal about her desire to see a change to the way WWE is run.

Writing on Twitter shortly after Vince stepped down, she said:

“Let’s hope the company is bought out by someone/company that will treat WWE like a business and not a boys club. Health insurance, retirement plans, parental leave.

“Vacation days, child care, and a clear direction for the future. This is going to be an anxiety-filled time for a lot of people that work there. Hopefully, the COMPANY CULTURE will change. And people will still have jobs they love to feed their families.”

When Vince appeared on SmackDown just hours after the first Wall Street Journal article broke, Kanellis suggested it was “disrespectful to the women hurt in this situation”, an opinion shared by many.

Maria was released by WWE in April 2020, and has since worked with various promotions, including Ring of Honor.
