A former WWE star has confirmed that they’re not retired from wrestling after making just a handful of in-ring appearances since their release almost two years ago.
In September 2023, former WWE star Aliyah was released from her contract after spending eight years with the company, much of which was spent in NXT.
Since her WWE exit, Aliyah, now wrestling under her real name of Nhooph Al-Areebi has only competed twice on the independent circuit for Ontario, Canada based promotion Destiny Wrestling according to Cagematch.net.
With her most recent match being a win over WWE ID signing Zayda Steel back on February 16 this year, Aliyah spoke with PWMania and addressed her future.
Expressing the belief that her “best is yet to come”, Aliyah said:
“I’ve always felt like my best is yet to come, which is why I know I’m not done yet.
“I’m still too athletic, talented, beautiful, and marketable to retire this young — it just doesn’t make sense .
“My first appearance outside WWE, I DJed — I’d never done it before — and I sold the place out. I had everyone singing and dancing, and I didn’t even have to wrestle to have people react. That’s real power and influence.
“I’ve also competed in show jumping with my horse, winning multiple ribbons and championships across Florida. The sky is truly the limit for me.”
Aliyah’s sole championship win during her WWE tenure came in 2022, when she and Raquel Rodriguez won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships – titles they held for 14 days.
