Released WWE Star Says They ‘Weren’t Allowed’ To Be Themself WWE

A released WWE star has said that their character was ‘so far removed’ from their real-life self, but they weren’t allowed to be themself.

Three WWE names departed the company back in November, with Baron Corbin being informed that the company wouldn’t be renewing his contract, while Indi Hartwell and Tegan Nox were both released from theirs.

Tegan was re-signed to the company in December 2022 after previously being released in 2021, with her only being positioned as a babyface during her time in the company.

Appearing on Highspots’ Sign-It-Live, Tegan, now once again known as Nixon Newell, spoke about her time in the company, claiming that her character was far removed from her real-life personality.

She also noted that she wasn’t allowed to be herself, as the company noted that they preferred her to be the girl next door.

She said:

“I’m very emo, pop-punk. This is me. Tegan Nox was so far removed from me that I was trying to get this through but I just wasn’t allowed.

“They preferred me to be the girl next door, instead of tattooed up punk kid.”

Nixon’s 90 day non-compete clause expired at the end of January, with her now free to sign wherever she pleases.
