This week’s episode of WWE NXT ended with emotional scenes as a recently released star was offered a new contract by Triple H.
After losing the final of the interim NXT Cruiserweight Title tournament to El Hijo del Fantasma, Drake Maverick appears to have re-signed with the company as part of NXT.

It’d been speculated since it was first confirmed that he’d be competing in the tournament even after he was released that he would come out the other side of it under contract with WWE, and that does indeed appear to be what’s happened.
As soon as he was released in April, Maverick released a very emotional video on social media about how working with WWE was his dream and that he’d fight harder than ever from that point onwards.
Maverick impressed throughout the tournament, which was really the first time in his WWE career that he’d been given the chance to showcase his skills in the ring.
He’s previously been the GM of 205 Live, and the manager of AOP, so it’ll be interesting to see what an NXT future holds for the plucky Brit. One thing that is for sure is that he deserves it.
