Released WWE Star Reveals Why Vince McMahon Called Him Up From NXT

Former NXT Cruiserweight Champion Lio Rush has revealed how he got called up to WWE Raw in 2018 as Bobby Lashley’s mouthpiece.

Prior to being called up, Rush was in NXT but also competed on 205 Live, and at the time, was involved in a program with Noam Dar.

During their rivalry, they recorded some skits and posted them on social media. He said that the only time WWE had anything to say about his social media activity, which also involved him promoting his own music, was asking him to take down one of those skits.

Speaking with Fightful, Rush said:

“There was one time where I posted a promo, and it was up for about a good five minutes, but they told me to take it down. It was when I was doing a program with Noam Dar on 205 Live. I was doing some skits with him, some really funny skits backstage and we did one when we were in the bathroom. He walked up to the urinal and he was using the bathroom and then there was just that behind shot of me just walking up to the next urinal and me peaking over and laughing. He would look over and start joking. It was pretty funny, but they told us to take it down. That was the only time they said anything about it.”

This actually led onto Rush’s point about how he was called up to the main roster. He explained:

“Ironically enough the reason why I got put on Monday Night Raw was because of those promos. Because Vince McMahon actually saw those promos. He saw them on the internet and contacted whoever and said, ‘Hey, we need to get this guy on Monday Night Raw’. Which is so crazy, so cool.”
