A released WWE star has dropped a tease that they may one day return to the company in the future.
In May 2024, Olympic gold medal winning wrestler Gable Steveson was released from his WWE contract.
A much hyped signing back in September 2021, Steveson would only compete a single time on WWE TV – facing Baron Corbin at NXT Great American Bash in July 2023.
Weeks after his WWE exit was official, the 24-year-old made the switch to football, signing with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills.
This would be short-lived however, as Steveson would be waived by the Bills in late August.
Last week it was announced that Steveson would be making his return to wrestling at a collegiate level for the Minnesota Gophers.
Ahead of his return to the University of Minnesota, a press conference was held with Steveson being asked about his time at both the WWE and the Buffalo Bills.
Steveson said that he had no “bad feelings” in regards to his WWE tenure, while teasing that a future return could still happen later down the line.
Steveson said:
“The WWE, just wasn’t the right time. I had a lot of competitive edge in me and they knew that and it was just — it was not the time for it and so maybe one day if the stars are aligned, it’ll be a great opportunity to do it again.
“I have no bad feelings with it, I have no bad blood with it and I would like to keep moving forward with everything I have going on, and the NFL situation (was) just definitely a great thing to do.
:A lot of people know I never played football before, so Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane and Buffalo Bills reached out and was like, ‘Hey, do you want to come try? We’ll give you the best chance’ and so, they did and I got a few tackles in a couple games and a few QB hits.
“Had a few other teams reach out to me previously before coming back to here so, maybe after the season, it’s another opportunity to get a Futures deal with the team or go on from there.”
