Released WWE Star Returns, WWE Scraps Championship, Rejected Royal Rumble ‘Forbidden Door’ Entrants – News Bulletin – November 8, 2022 WWE

Another released WWE star has returned, WWE has scrapped a championship, rejected Royal Rumble ‘Forbidden Door’ entrants, and more.

It’s Tuesday morning, the day after Monday Night Raw, and this is all the latest wrestling news to get you up to speed on November 8, 2022.

Mia Yim Makes WWE Return On Raw

The November 7 edition of Raw saw the return of Mia Yim. Yim is the latest return in a list of WWE names since Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque took over creative duties for the company. Mia Yim returned to even out the odds for The OC, who have been involved in a feud with Judgment Day.

Previously, WWE saw the return of Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. They reunited with AJ Styles, backing him up as Styles continues to be terrorised by Finn Balor of Judgment Day.

The OC was ultimately defeated by Judgment Day at Crown Jewel on November 5, thanks to a little help from Rhea Ripley.

The OC has found its equalizer to the Judgment Day’s Rhea Ripley in the form of the returning Mia Yim

During Raw, Styles confronted Judgment Day and noted they had never been in a fair fight. Cue Mia Yim who pulled back her hood to reveal herself and attack Rhea Ripley to even the score.

Mia Yim previously wrestled under the ring-name RECKONING as part of the RETRIBUTION faction headed by Mustafa Ali in 2020, after performing in NXT as Mia Yim.

Yim was released by WWE in November 2021.

WWE Scraps Championship

On the November 7 edition of Raw, the 24/7 Championship was seemingly scrapped as Nikki Cross threw it in the trash. Well, kind of. In a moment worthy of Botchamania, Nikki was walking backstage with Damage CTRL behind her, attention fixated elsewhere in a dissociated state when she casually dropped the title into a bin.

But, Cross missed by accident, with the championship instead sloping off to the side and landing on the floor.

The mistake was not acknowledged, as Damage CTRL continued to walk on behind Cross.

Nikki Cross is confirmed for Team Damage CTRL for WarGames at Survivor Series on November 26

Nikki Cross defeated Dana Brooke for the title earlier on in the episode. Her dazed state backstage seemed to suggest that the title win didn’t mean anything to her.

Later, she would be revealed as a partner for Damage CTRL at the upcoming premium live event, Survivor Series WarGames on November 26.

The spot may have been Triple H’s proverbial way of ‘canning’ the title altogether. Except, Cross missed the proverbial can.

Austin Theory officially cashes in his Money in the Bank contract

Elsewhere on Raw, Austin Theory failed his Money in the Bank cash-in

Elsewhere on Raw:

  • In a preview of the tag team title match on SmackDown later this week, Solo Sikoa and the Usos defeated Matt Riddle and New Day, with Sikoa pinning Riddle
    Baron Corbin beat Cedric Alexander
  • Seth Rollins’ United States Championship open challenge was crashed by Judgment Day, which brought out the OC, and the aforementioned Mia Yim return
  • Otis defeated Elias thanks to distractions from Chad Gable
  • After an in-ring brawl, the first WarGames match for Survivor Series was announced – Bianca Belair, Asuka, Alexa Bliss, and two more partners vs Damage CTRL, Nikki Cross, and another partner
  • As a side note, the Bray Wyatt logo briefly appeared on the tron during Belair, Asuka and Bliss’ entrance
  • Austin Theory beat Shelton Benjamin
  • Johnny Gargano exposed The Miz talking to an undercover private investigator and admitting that he’d been paying Dexter Lumis to pretend to attack him… until he stopped paying, and then Lumis actually did start attacking him
  • Miz beat Johnny Gargano after using part of the turnbuckle as a weapon – Lumis then appeared and attacked Miz on the ramp
  • Nikki Cross, with Damage CTRL in her corner, defeated Dana Brooke for the 24/7 Championship, then, as mentioned earlier, threw the title belt in the trash (well, tried to)

  • Bobby Lashley who said he was going to
  • Lashley came out to confront Rollins but the match didn’t start and he just absolutely destroyed Rollins at ringside, and after Lashley left , Austin Theory came out to cash-in Money in the Bank on Rollins for the US Title
  • The cash-in was made official, but, after Lashley got involved once again, Rollins actually managed to retain the US Championship
  • As a side note, the NXT talents who worked matches for Main Event before Raw this week were Wendy Choo and Xyon Quinn
  • Fightful also reported that former WWE star Gene Snitsky was backstage at Raw

Vince McMahon Rejected ‘Forbidden Door’ Royal Rumble Entrants

The Royal Rumble is known for a few surprises, but recent news has emerged suggested Vince McMahon squashed the possibility of ‘Forbidden Door’ entrants to the event.

The women’s Royal Rumble in January 2022 saw a ‘Forbidden Door’ entrant in Mickie James. The former WWE Women’s Champion has been on the independent scene and featured in the Royal Rumble earlier this year while being acknowledged as Impact Knockouts World Champion and entering to her IMPACT theme with her belt in tow.

Shinsuke Nakamura

It seems there are more Forbidden Door possibilities with Vince McMahon out of WWE, namely Shinsuke Nakamura vs The Great Muta for NOAH in January

Rumors of ‘forbidden door’ entrants into the male Royal Rumble circulated. Namely, AEW’s Chris Jericho among others.

While speaking to GiveMeSport, WrestleVotes reported that there was no substance to this rumor and there were no plans for any AEW names to enter the event.

Further, the report notes that Vince McMahon was presented with a list of several names and he rejected all of them, even without knowing anything about them.

Other Stuff

The date of WWE’s next premium live event in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia may have been revealed. According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, the working plan is for WWE to return to Saudi Arabia in May 2023.

POST Wrestling reported that Natalya’s broken nose injury at the hands (well, knee) of Shayna Baszler on SmackDown was a ‘cover reason’ for Natalya to take time away for pre-known nasal surgery.

An update has emerged on AEW’s video game AEW: Fight Forever. Per Matt Black of WrestleZone, the game will be part of Xbox’s Game Pass service when it is released following several delays. AEW Fight Forever will be released on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

AEW’s ‘Hangman’ Adam Page took to Twitter to say he is, well, deleting his Twitter. Page is currently out of action due to a concussion sustained during his shot at the AEW World Championship match on the October 18 episode of AEW Dynamite.

The National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) has now suspended Nick Aldis, pulling him from the upcoming Hard Times 3 pay-per-view. The suspension comes after Aldis, in a now-deleted Instagram post, aired his grievances with the promotion and issued his notice on November 4. Aldis is under contract with the NWA until December 31.

Aldis responded to the news of his suspension via Twitter. He apologised to audiences who were expecting to see him at upcoming shows and said he “fully intended to fulfil my obligations to the audience but unfortunately the company doesn’t seem to share the same values.”

Nick Aldis hinted at what some of these values may be when he responded to a post made by NWA President, Billy Corgan, on a ‘lack’ of women’s talent to fill a card for a women’s pay-per-view. Aldis stated: “If some of you are wondering whether stuff like this factored into my decision to give my notice you’d be correct.”

Since these posts, the origins of the issues between Aldis and NWA have seemingly been revealed. Per Fightful Select (subscription required), Billy Corgan’s apparent disrespect toward Mickie James (Nick Aldis’ wife) in the lead-up to and following NWA Empowerrr was a contributor.

Tonight’s NXT has:
