Released WWE Stars ‘Felt So Stagnant’ During Run With The Company WWE

A former WWE star has addressed he and his tag team partner’s release from the company earlier this year, noting how he felt they were “so stagnant” before their departure.

In February of this year, Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows (fka Luke Gallows) were among a slew of WWE talent releases, being let go from the company along with other names such as AOP, Sonya Deville and Cedric Alexander.

Since being cut from WWE, The Good Brothers have picked up where they left off before rejoining the company back in 2022 – returning to NJPW for the promotion’s Resurgence event on May 9 to team with The Young Bucks against the Bullet Club War Dogs, before then competing at Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling’s Northern Rising event on May 10.

Speaking on the Two Man Power Trip podcast, Gallows spoke on how he and Anderson felt “stagnant” in WWE, but now are more “motivated” and “clear-headed” than ever before.

Gallows said:

“I’ve said this maybe even here but I’ve been saying it all day as we do media. The name of the show being (NJPW) Resurgence couldn’t be better because it truly is a resurgence for us and when we looked at the way the situation laid out, people ask us questions like it’s a negative. It was not a negative.

“Like, yes, he (Karl Anderson) was hurt. Yes, we got released. We had felt so stagnant and we were talking all the time like, ‘How do we get out of this? What do we do?’ So the way that it ended up and the way that the dates lined up because we both got on the phone and said, ‘We have to go to Japan. We have to work in Japan. We have to be in New Japan one way or another’ and our 90 days ends May the 8th and in Los Angeles, in Ontario, California which is 100 percent Good Brother town… It lined up perfectly.

“One day after the 90 days is up, there’s a New Japan Pro-Wrestling pay-per-view in California. There’s an opportunity for us to come in to reunite with The Young Bucks, to fight this new s**t-talking version of the BULLET CLUB, the War Dogs, that remind us so much of us when we were starting out and forming the thing. It just couldn’t have come together more perfectly.

“Ultimately, we’re super thankful for that and probably more motivated and clear-headed than we’ve ever been.”
