In one of the matches of the weekend, Adam Cole lost to Kyle O’Reilly in a 2 out of 3 falls match at NXT TakeOver 36.
There has been a lot of speculation regarding the future of Cole, who it was recently reported has not signed a new contract with WWE, and is said to be weighing up his future options.
Following the match, Sean Ross Sapp reported Cole is still yet to sign a new contract, but this doesn’t mean he isn’t going to at some point.
PWInsider has now added in a new report that the match with O’Reilly was Cole’s last for the NXT brand. This doesn’t necessarily mean he is leaving WWE, as he could be heading to SmackDown or Raw if he chooses to remain with the promotion.
It has been reported Cole has had meetings with Vince McMahon regarding his WWE future, and that Vince was very impressed with Cole during these meetings.
It is generally believed AEW would be keen on signing Cole if he chose to leave WWE. He is currently engaged to AEW Women’s Champion Britt Baker.
