Report: Adam Pearce Given Major Backstage Promotion

If you have watched any amount of WWE over the past 12 months or so, you will have likely seen a giant man by the name of Adam Pearce making matches and even having matches on both Raw and SmackDown.

While WWE only ever calls him an “official”, he’s basically a general manager for both brands, without actually being called that because as Vince McMahon said, the fans are the new authority…

According to a new report from PWInsider, Pearce has just been given a big backstage promotion as part of WWE’s recent corporate shake-up, which saw Mark Carrano and several others sacked, while others moved into new roles.

The report states:

In an update on changes behind the scenes within WWE, PWInsider.com reported yesterday that in recent weeks, Adam Pearce has moved up in terms of responsibilities behind the scenes. We confirmed this morning that Pearce’s new title is Director of Live Events.

In the past, that role has usually meant overseeing live events and touring creative and lineups, so it’s another sign that WWE is preparing strategies for returning to the road. This would have been a role previously filled by Michael Hayes, who in recent months, has been working on producing many of the main event matches and angles for Roman Reigns on the Smackdown brand. So, it’s a case of Hayes putting his expertise elsewhere.

The report also noted that Pearce will continue to produce matches as part of his new role.
