While the finish to AEW’s Blood & Guts match certainly split opinions, the majority of fans are in agreement that the action leading up to Chris Jericho being thrown off the top of the double cage was very entertaining.
That’s not to say the very blood-filled match hasn’t had its fair share of critics however, and according to a new report from Ringside News, several people in WWE thought the match was bad for the pro-wrestling industry.
According to the report, several people backstage in WWE thought the match was “barbaric”, considering how much blood was spilled by almost every wrestler in the match.
The report adds that a tenured member of the creative team said: “It was a bad image for the industry, especially the obvious blading.”
Ringside News also added that some felt Chris Jericho is trying to become Shane McMahon by falling off very high things.
Over 1 million people tuned in to watch the show, so it will be interesting to see whether the promotion is able to maintain this viewership for next week’s episode, which features a number of high-profile matches, including Miro vs. Darby Allin for the TNT Championship.
