It was announced last night that we are going to see Jon Moxley defend his AEW World Championship against Kenny Omega on the December 2 episode of Dynamite in just under three weeks time.
However, Dave Meltzer is reporting on Wrestling Observer Radio that following Full Gear, Moxley was actually slated to defend his AEW title against former rival Lance Archer next, as opposed to Kenny Omega.
At this time, it is unclear why AEW made the call to scrap those plans and have Moxley vs. Omega, probably the biggest match AEW could book right now, take place on an episode of Dynamite instead of on pay-per-view.
During the show, Meltzer speculated that it could be because the next AEW pay-per-view is not taking place until the end of February, so the promotion would have to keep the feud going for four months without a payoff.
The feud between Lance Archer and Jon Moxley was actually teased as recently as the Buy-In for Full Gear on Saturday night, so it seems like Moxley vs. Omega being booked for next month was a last minute change of plan.
