Since being granted his WWE release on March 21, Andrade has only made one wrestling appearance, and even then it was only on a big screen at Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide’s Rey de Reyes show to challenge Kenny Omega at TripleMania XXIX.
His first confirmed match since leaving WWE will be against controversial former WWE star Alberto Del Rio at an event in Texas on July 31, and it appears that interest in Andrade is high.
While it’s far from confirmation that he has signed with the company, the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter has noted that Andrade has at least held talks with AEW.
The report didn’t specify as to whether these talks were regarding a contract, or whether they were to discuss his match with Kenny Omega, a match Kenny is yet to confirm.
If he did join AEW, he would join a long list of poorly utilised former WWE stars to do so. Just this past week we saw former WWE star Miro win the TNT Championship, and given his work in NXT, there is no reason why Andrade couldn’t be one of AEW’s top guys immediately.
We’ll keep you updated with any further news regarding Andrade.
