Report: Another Big WrestleMania Match Result Changed Just Before Show

We’ve learned since the show that a number of WrestleMania match finishes were changed in the days leading up to the two-night show, with some even being changed on the day of.

The Fiend vs. Randy Orton had its finished changed just hours before the show went live, and according to Fightful Select, another big match had its finished changed last week.

Sheamus won the United States Championship from Riddle on Night Two of WrestleMania 37, but according to the report, this wasn’t the plan until a few days before the show.

Fightful Select writes:

“We mentioned the changes to the Fiend vs. Randy Orton match, but that wasn’t the only match that had the result changed this weekend. Fightful was informed that originally Riddle was supposed to retain his WWE United States Championship at the show, but it was adjusted in favor of continuing the feud with Sheamus, tentatively.”

On the following night’s Raw, Sheamus was nowhere to be seen, while Riddle was squashed by WWE Champion Bobby Lashley.

We’ll have to see whether Riddle is able to recover from this defeat, and what lies in store for Sheamus now that he is champion.
