WWE announced yesterday that WWE Champion Drew McIntyre had tested positive for COVID. This was one of the first times that WWE has acknowledged an in-ring performer has COVID.
Speaking on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer has provided some additional details on the latest outbreak of COVID within WWE, claiming that “at least four” wrestlers tested positive:
“There’s at least four, including Drew McIntyre, WWE wrestlers that I’m aware of that have, or just got over, COVID, and there may be more. Those are only the names I know. There was one on SmackDown who missed SmackDown – was scheduled on the show and was taken off. There’s one who’s a big star who just returned from COVID, and then there’s another one in NXT. And there’s probably others, and there’s probably others who are gonna be kept out due to contact tracing I’m gonna guess.
“Tonight’s show was obviously very much a skeleton show. You can see by people working multiple matches and a lot of talent that you would expect to be on the show was not there. I do not know anyone else on Raw that’s tested positive, but obviously if you watch the show you can deduct who wasn’t there, that there’s a lot of people not there.
“My impression of McIntyre is that he’s been pretty safe as far as not going anywhere, and as far as how he got it, s**t happens and you can go to the grocery store and get it and whatever. He tested positive I believe yesterday (Sunday), because everyone got a test the day before the show. Before the television, everyone who’s on the television has to test. And he tested positive on probably Sunday. So the belief is he did not have it last Monday, because if he had it last Monday, that would not be good because obviously he was right next to Hulk Hogan and Jimmy Hart, and Jimmy Hart’s in his 70s and Hulk is in his late 60s. And was obviously all over Bill (Goldberg), headbutting him and all that. So the belief is that those guys are not in any jeopardy or anything to worry about them. You never know 100%.
“The other guys, and other people – because there’s a woman involved as well – we’ll just have to wait and see, and as far as other people being gone, if there’s anyone else on Raw who has it I don’t know who they would be, but there were people gone who may have been in contact with perhaps one of the other people who tested positive.”

Everyone here at WrestleTalk would obviously like to extend their best wishes to Drew McIntyre and the three other reported WWE Superstars who have unfortunately tested positive for the virus.
