According to a report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the lawsuit between CM Punk and Colt Cabana is over after court documents were filed, stating that the lawsuit had been “dismissed with prejudice.”
It was noted that Punk and Cabana jointly filed for the case to be dismissed and that the Court, “having examined said stipulation and being fully advised in the premises, finds that this cause of action has been fully compromised and settled and the parties have stipulated and agreed to the dismissal of the complaint with prejudice, and the court further finds that all costs have been paid.”
Johnson’s report is that there was no kind of financial settlement between the two men, and that the settlement was instead based on mutual releases of their claims against each other.
Because the case was dismissed with prejudice, neither Punk or Cabana can file another lawsuit related to the initial matter.
When asked for comment, Cary Stein, Cabana’s lawyer, responded to PWInsider with a one-word response via email, writing, “Settled.”
The whole issue started when Cabana sued Punk in August 2018 for $1.2 million, alleging that Punk agreed to pay for Cabana’s legal fees but “suddenly” demanded Cabana pay over $250,000.
The latest update was back in June 2019 when Punk filed a counter lawsuit seeking $600,000 in damages.
