New Reports Deny WWE Has Agreed Sale To Saudi Arabia WWE

Multiple new reports have denied that WWE and Saudi Arabia have came to terms on a deal regarding the sale of the company.

As previously noted, several reports on January 10 indicated that WWE had been purchased by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment fund.

The news was reported by multiple outlets, notably Steven Muehlhausen of DAZN, but has yet to be officially announced.

It was later noted by Cassidy Haynes that the deal has been agreed to in principle.

TMZ is now reporting that “a deal has not been made between the two sides” and “reports of a deal being set in stone are simply not true.”

Wrestling and MMA journalist Ariel Helwani also now reports that there is no deal currently in place for WWE to be sold to any entity.

Helwani took to Twitter to note:

“Contrary to reports stating otherwise last night, there is no deal in place at this precise moment for WWE to be sold to Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund or any entity, sources say.

“The organization is still exploring all options, I’m told. Developing.”

Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics has also stated that sources have indicated that the initial sale report was untrue, writing:

“I asked someone at WWE, who would know, who said the story that took hold of Twitter last night, about WWE and Saudi Arabia being near a deal to take the company private, is untrue.”

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful shared both Helwani and Thurston’s tweets. Sapp had previously reported that nobody within WWE had confirmed the Saudi Arabia sale report to him, noting that some didn’t believe it.
