Report: ‘About Half The Crowd’ Left During AEW Rampage Taping AEW

AEW held it’s Fight For The Fallen special episode of AEW Dynamite last night, which saw the shocking main event, with Daniel Garcia defeating Bryan Danielson.

AEW then taped the July 29 episode of Rampage following the event, which featured a women’s main event, pitting Anna Jay against Ruby Soho.

The match was the final match of a long television taping, including pre-show matches taped for AEW Dark: Elevation, Dynamite itself, and the three earlier matches of Rampage, so naturally fans were going to be a little tired.

Dave Meltzer spoke on Wrestling Observer Radio about the issues that the show also had, and that AEW tried to play a pre-tape three times, to no avail, and that the main event didn’t start until 11:15pm.

He said:

“They had a problem with a pre-tape, and they tried to play it three times, it didn’t play. A lot of people left. It was 11:15pm at this point (before the main event), about half the crowd was gone at this point. About half the crowd was gone, and they had to turn the ring lights down because so much of the crowd had left because it had gotten so late and they had so many problems.”

As you can see below, a large portion of the crowd had left the arena as the match started.
