Report: Impact Building Tessa Blanchard For Men’s Title Run

***THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS IMPACT TAPINGS***

Tessa Blanchard is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars in world wrestling, male or female, something Impact Wrestling has proved with her excellent matches against both male and female opponents.

Her recent feud with Sami Callihan was excellent, and she once again took part in a men’s match last weekend at Bound for Glory.

Now here are the spoilers.

Sami Callihan defeated Brian Cage in a cage match to win the Impact World Championship during the latest set of Impact tapings. While he celebrated, Blanchard came to the ring and challenged Callihan for his newly won belt.

According to the Wrestling Observer, the plan within Impact is very much that Tessa will at some point win a men’s championship, and that this is all part of a slow build.

Of course there are many who will say that as a woman, Blanchard should wrestle within her division, but the belief is that Impact are “making the people want it before they do it.”

She was very close to becoming X-Division champion at Bound for Glory, and only missed out because Ace Austin hit her with a baton as she was reaching for the belt.

As she and Callihan have recent history, there is an easy story to tell here, but whether or not they pull the trigger on a Blanchard title run is probably not yet known by anyone.
