It’s being reported that current WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns wasn’t actually originally meant to have a long reign with the title.
Reigns has held the title since winning it at Payback in late August, but it sounds like he wasn’t initially meant to hold it this long.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said:
“Roman Reigns with a long title run was not the idea, believe it or not. Even though it seems so obvious, it was not the idea. I don’t know who the guy who was supposed to be the champion was supposed to be because they basically devalued everybody else.”
Reigns is set to face new WWE Champion Drew McIntyre in a SmackDown vs Raw match at Survivor Series on Sunday.
