It was reported yesterday that WWE SummerSlam 2021 is currently penciled in for August 22.
However, there have now been a couple of reports, from both WrestleVotes and Fightful Select, suggesting the show may actually happen earlier than previously reported.
While nothing has been confirmed, Fightful has reported holding the show on August 1 has at least been discussed, and that multiple potential venues have been discussed.
Fightful notes that Las Vegas is an option that is currently gathering steam, while Phoenix in Arizona and simply “Texas” have also been thrown out as possible hosts for the show.
Dave Meltzer has also noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Madison Square Garden has also come up in discussions regarding SummerSlam.
All these suggestions all but confirm that WWE is planning to have fans at the show, much like the two night WrestleMania 37 show at the start of April.
Last year’s SummerSlam was of course held inside the Thunderdome at the Amway Center, with Roman Reigns returning to close the show. There’s no reason why Reigns won’t be mimicking that feat this year.
