The likely WWE Universal Championship match for the January 2021 Royal Rumble pay-per-view event has reportedly been revealed.
It’s been pretty clear on SmackDown recently that Daniel Bryan is being set up as one of current champion Roman Reigns’ next challengers, and Dave Meltzer has provided an update in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Even though Bryan is the only challenger that’s really been established, Meltzer writes that the decision as of this week was to hold off on Reigns vs Bryan until the Royal Rumble.
This is despite the next pay-per-view, TLC, taking place on December 20, meaning another challenger would have to be established if that’s the case, unless there just isn’t a title match.
Some babyface names you could slot in are Kevin Owens, Murphy, Rey Mysterio, Big E or Otis. Obviously there are negative points to some of those.
