Report: Matt Riddle First WWE Opponent Unhappy To Feud With Him

Matt Riddle was introduced to the main roster in a big way last week when he defeated Intercontinental Champion AJ Styles in a non-title match.

It doesn’t look like Riddle is going to feud with AJ, but having him defeat the former WWE Champion in his first match on SmackDown hopefully indicates that WWE has big plans for him.

Prior to his debut, it was speculated that Riddle could feud with former United States Champion King Corbin, and it appears as if this is the plan.

Riddle was eliminated in both the Survivor Series and Royal Rumble matches by Corbin, and the pair are set to feud over the coming weeks according to recent reports.

According to Gary Cassidy, Riddle has been aware that he’s going to be feuding with the former Mr. Money in the Bank for some time, but Corbin only found out about the plans fairly recently and wasn’t too pleased.

Cassidy notes that Corbin is of the belief that Riddle should have had to go through several enhancement talent matches before he shares the ring with him:

“Well, sources within WWE have revealed to me how Matt Riddle has known for several months that he would be working with Corbin upon his arrival to SmackDown, while the former Mr Money In The Bank only found out last week.

I’m told Corbin was unhappy with the plan and insisted that Matt Riddle should have to beat five enhancement talents before getting the chance to face him.”

It’s not clear whether Corbin was unhappy because of a potential issue with Riddle himself or if he just felt the ‘Original Bro’ wasn’t established enough. For the latest on that, stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com.
