Mike and Maria Kanellis reportedly requested their WWE release at the beginning of 2019. The company rejected their requests, but it was believed that the couples contracts were due to expire in a matter of days.
Despite wanting out of the company just six months ago, Pro Wrestling Sheet is now reporting that Mike and Maria have both signed new deals with WWE. Fightful has also confirmed that the pair agreed to five-year contracts with the company.
Maria first joined WWE in 2004 through the Diva Search. She would go on to leave in 2010 after a six-year spell with Vince McMahon’s company. After spells in both ROH and Impact, she then returned seven years later in 2017, this time with husband Mike.
Mike and Maria bypassed NXT, and after brief runs on both Smackdown and Raw, Mike joined 205 Live. He has been mixing it up with the cruiserweights on the purple brand for just shy of a year.
Mike and Maria’s new deals will see them stay with the company until 2024 when they are 39 and 42 respectively. Both sides are said to be happy with the deals they have reached.
This comes mere days after Mike Kanellis took to social media to claim that WWE higher-ups do not care about 205 Live.
