It appears that morale backstage in WWE is lower than ever, and this could lead to a number of stars finally deciding enough is enough and jumping ship.
It was reported recently that morale is at its lowest point in years, and that the stuttering start made by SmackDown on FOX has done nothing to help that.
It is widely known that a number of stars want out of the company, including Mike Kanellis, Luke Harper and the Revival, and there could well be more to come.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez reported that he has been told that several more stars could be on the verge of being released.
“I was told today, there may be more [releases] coming, who knows? Morale has not been good for a long time but apparently the morale has taken an even bigger hit since October 1st. If you recall, the belief within WWE … their idea was ‘oh my god, we’re going to FOX and a new boom period is going to kick off.”
The general belief is that WWE will not release anyone no matter how unhappy they are, simply due to the increased level of competition around.
However, there has rarely been a more enticing prospect for wrestlers outside of WWE than AEW, so could this be the start of a mass WWE exodus?
