Despite both Johnny Gargano and Kyle O’Reilly’s NXT contracts expiring, it appears the promotion is expecting the two men will return at some point in the future, even if it isn’t straight away.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer notes that those he has spoken to within NXT widely expect both Gargano and O’Reilly to make a return.
The report reads:
“Those at NXT are under the impression both will be back. But the reality is, both have new deals on the table, and neither signed them. Both could have signed and asked for time off. They wouldn’t have to not sign.”
The latest report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful is that Gargano is now a free agent, but there is no news as to where he is planning to go next.
If he does make a return to NXT, Meltzer added he will likely wait until his wife Candice LeRae gives birth to their first child, which is due in February 2022.
As for O’Reilly, news is more limited, but many fans are hoping for him to join AEW for a potential reunion with Adam Cole and Bobby Fish.
