A popular WWE NXT star is out of action for two months due an injury, according to Dave Meltzer speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio.
The star in question is Io Shirai. Meltzer stated that he doesn’t know any further details on the injury other than it’s going to keep her out of action for two months:
Meltzer: “I don’t know the exact injury that she has, but I was told she’s out for two months.”
Alvarez: “Two months?”
Meltzer: “Yeah”.
Alvarez: “I’m trying to think what that would even be.”
Meltzer: “I don’t know.”
Shirai last competed on the January 22 episode of NXT, where she was defeated by Toni Storm by disqualification due to Bianca Belair interfering and attacking Storm.
The week prior to that, Shirai was the runner-up in a number one contender’s battle royal, which was won by Belair to earn an NXT Championship match at TakeOver: Portland.
There have been reports recently that STARDOM is interested in bringing Shirai back to the promotion, coupled with suggestions that she is currently unhappy in WWE.
