Wow. What a completely crazy coincidence. When NXT moves to Fox Sports 1 in October it will be given the exact same time slot as AEW’s weekly TNT show.
It’s almost like WWE planned it this way, but Vince McMahon would never try and squash competition, he loves competition.
Anyway, enough sarcasm for one news piece. Dave Meltzer has reported in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that when NXT moves to TV, it will have an 8pm – 10pm time slot on FS1, which is the same time slot AEW’s weekly TV show will have on TNT.
While not announced, the NXT on FS 1 is tentatively set for 8-10 p.m. on Wednesday nights. For obvious reasons, that was the time slot expected but this was the first info we were given listing a time slot. Of course it wasn’t going to be finalized until TNT announced the time slot.
It was recently reported that, while WWE by no means expects NXT to outdraw the AEW show, if it can even take a few potential viewers away from AEW, then it will be considered a major success.
There is also talk of having an increased number of main roster stars appear in NXT to boost numbers.
It is thought that Vince McMahon would have a far more active role in NXT when the show moves to FS1, something fans around the world are devastated by, as no-one wants to see it become another Raw or SmackDown Live.
