It’s being reported that none other than Paul Heyman wrote Sasha Banks’ promo on Raw last night, her first since returning to WWE after several months out.
The promo has been criticised for both its content and delivery, but according to the report from Pro Wrestling Torch is that Heyman has a very clear idea of what he wants to do with Sasha’s character, and that this promo was the first step in doing just that.
It is thought that her owning up to all the reports regarding her backstage behaviour and her attacking people backstage is Heyman’s way of turning negative heat into heel heat.
Since returning to Raw on the August 12 episode, Banks has attacked both Natalya and Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch, and is seemingly the number one contender for Becky’s belt. She defeated Natalya in 4 minutes last night, and is clearly being pushed as the first genuine challenger for the title since Becky won it at WrestleMania 35.
Whether she wins the belt is another question. On one hand it would be good for her to capitalise on her return and not be buried immediately by losing, and on the other hand you’ve got Becky Lynch, one of the most popular women’s champions in WWE history.
