It has been reported that Raw Executive Director Paul Heyman is a big fan of Cedric Alexander.
This has certainly been evidenced on WWE TV in recent weeks, with Cedric going from the 24/7 title picture to challenging AJ Styles at Clash of Champions for the United States Championship.
Cedric has been positioned as an upper midcarder in WWE for the last few weeks, pinning AJ Styles this week on Raw in the main event of the Madison Square Garden TV taping.
However, Dave Meltzer notes in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Paul Heyman sees Cedric Alexander as a potential main eventer on Raw, and wants to give him a slow push to the top of the card.
“A.J. Styles defends the U.S. title against Cedric Alexander with Alexander being one of the wrestlers Paul Heyman wants to give a slow push to the top rung”.
While this does not mean that Cedric will be picking up the United States Championship from AJ Styles on Sunday, but it does indicate that WWE has big plans for Alexander to stay on TV for the foreseeable future.
