Based on WWE’s recent announcements, it seems like Monday Night Raw will be pretty stacked. Firstly, Gran Metalik and Cedric Alexander will be competing in singles action against Rey Mysterio and AJ Styles respectively.
As if that wasn’t enough, former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Bayley and Sasha Banks are set to team up to take on Charlotte Flair and Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch.
Finally, Stone Cold Steve Austin be moderating a Universal Championship contract signing between Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman.
The show, which is set to take place from the historic Madison Square Garden, is set to be rather newsworthy, as WWE tries to compete with the returning NFL.
According to Dave Meltzer, WWE are set to have a “loaded” Raw in an attempt to survive in the ratings:
“Raw is expected to be loaded this week as far as an attempt to put on a good standalone show since it’s the first week against the NFL, not to mention it being in Madison Square Garden. My strong feeling is Styles vs. Alexander is there to be a great match of course, but for more than just that. There is very much going to be an attempt to make news on this show for all those reasons, but the competition aspect and it’s PPV go-home.”
It was reported several days ago that WWE would be making a huge announcement in the coming days. However, nothing has been revealed by Vince McMahon’s company as of yet.
Perhaps, this big announcement is being saved for the Madison Square Garden TV taping, with WWE certainly pulling out all the stops to make it newsworthy.
