According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Rusev’s WWE contract is ending in the near future.
While there has been no concrete information as to whether he will re-sign before it expires, it is widely thought that he is unhappy in his position in the company, making a number of leading comments in interviews and on social media.
He recently requested some time off, which is why he hasn’t been on WWE TV for several weeks…although he probably wouldn’t have been on it anyway.

If he does plan to leave, it isn’t out of the realms of possibility that he will have time added onto his contract by WWE. In the past year there have been cases of WWE freezing contracts while talent is out of action for extended periods of time.
If he does leave, there can be no doubting that several top promotions would be keen on him. Despite how WWE has made it look, Rusev is an incredible wrestler and athlete and could slot into any main event in any world promotion.
Lana’s status is unknown, although if Rusev was to leave, a package deal of himself and Lana is probably rather appetising to potential suitors.
