Fightful Select (subscription required) is reporting several WWE stars from Raw, NXT, and SmackDown turned down new contract offers last year that were said to be “disappointing”.
Due to COVID, the deals were said to be less than those offered in 2019 before the launch of AEW Dynamite, and Fightful is reporting some of the wrestlers are waiting before agreeing to re-sign with the company.
The site is reporting WWE is not believed to be in “talent hoarding mode” anymore, and this is why the offers that have been made to the existing talent recently have been less than those that were offered in 2019.
Fightful notes at least six wrestlers have “shuffled their feet or outright passed on signing new deals”. Some are waiting until things “get more normal” with COVID before deciding whether or not to re-sign.
