It was reported way back in January that there were backstage disputes between Vince McMahon and Paul Heyman over which match should main event WrestleMania.
When it was announced that for the first time ever, WrestleMania will be broadcast over two-nights next month, many assumed that the WWE Championship match would main event one night, and the Universal Title match would close the other show.
However, it appears as if this won’t be the case, as reliable Twitter source WrestleVotes has stated that we “shouldn’t be surprised” if Shayna Baszler vs. Becky Lynch main events the first night of WrestleMania 36.
Talked with a source who said don’t be surprised to see a women’s match (Becky v Baszler) as the “main event” on the Saturday portion of WrestleMania. Lineup is being worked on now, upwards of 16 total matches. Likely 8 per show.

The report would go on to state that the shows will like feature eight matches on each night, with the final lineup “being worked on now”.
It was reported several weeks ago that Vince McMahon was not impressed with Shayna Baszler. However, based on this report and her dominant performance in the Elimination Chamber, it looks like Vince is a fan of the former NXT Women’s Champion.
One person this is certainly not good news for is Drew McIntyre. WWE said that Drew will challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE Champion “a week from Saturday”. This would indicate that Drew WILL NOT main event the show as was rumoured.
This is for the Saturday portion of the show. At this point, I would be very surprised to see Goldberg and Roman Reigns to main event the second night of the huge pay-per-view.
