This week’s Smackdown Live will be the final episode before the blue brand moves to Friday nights on FOX starting on October 4.
The October 4th show will not only see a new fresh set and the return of pyro, but also appearances from several WWE Hall of Famers as Smackdown celebrates its 20th anniversary.
Ahead of the big move to FOX, Dave Meltzer has speculated on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that this week’s episode of Smackdown will be rather ‘angle heavy’.
“That’s gonna be a lame duck show because everything’s gonna be built for the week after. I mean what’s the point? There’s really no other point other than to set up angles for the October 4th show. So the SmackDown show this Tuesday should in theory be a very angle-heavy show.”
This would certainly make it seem as if WWE has a few big storylines planned for the big show on October 4th. Perhaps some of the returning legends will be used for more than just a cameo appearance.
