On last week’s episode of AEW: Dynamite, the go-home show before Double or Nothing, Rey Fenix suffered an unfortunate injury after his match with Orange Cassidy. While the injury was not as serious as the one suffered by Britt Baker, Fenix was pulled from the Casino Ladder Match at last weekend’s pay-per-view.
Fenix did not appear on Dynamite this week, and reports have emerged suggesting he wasn’t at yesterday’s TV tapings so won’t be featured on next week’s show either. Speaking of next week, you can find out what AEW has planned for FTR (formerly The Revival) on the 06/03 show by clicking here.
While many seemingly assumed that Fenix’s absence was due to his injury, Bodyslam.net is reporting that the Mexican wrestler missed the TV tapings due to a “personal matter”. The belief is that Fenix will be able to return to TV on the 06/10 episode to Dynamite, so his injury and personal matter aren’t believed to be keeping him out of action for too long.
Prior to the Coronavirus pandemic, Fenix and his brother Pentagon formed the Death Triangle stable with PAC. However, due the travel bans imposed as a result of the pandemic, neither Pentagon or PAC have been featured on TV in a number of weeks.
