WWE has banned a number of moves for being too dangerous. One of these includes the Piledriver. However, it has emerged that some top WWE stars are campaigning backstage to get the move reinstated.
A variation of the Piledriver has sort of made its way back to TV over the last few years through the Canadian Destroyer, but WWE stars still have to be given permission to use the move during their matches.
It is believed courtesy of Fightful that both Matt Riddle and Damian Priest were spoken to following an NXT Live Event and told they have to get permission to use the Canadian Destroyer moving forward.
While the likes of Rey Mysterio and Andrade might have been given the green light to use the Canadian Destroyer during their matches, it has emerged that Kevin Owens has been unsuccessful in trying to obtain permission to use the Package Piledriver.
For those who aren’t aware, Owens used the Package Piledriver whilst performing on the independent scene as Kevin Steen prior to joining WWE. Many people have suggested online that Owens should try and use this move again:
“Kevin Owens has made an effort to pitch the Package Piledriver as his finish “quite often,” but the idea never makes it to Vince McMahon.”
