Report: Triple H Tells NXT Talent AEW ‘Tried To Bully Them’

A new report has detailed talks between the NXT locker room and Triple H, ahead of the coming Tuesday night move.

After recent reports claimed NXT was moving to Tuesday nights in April, the day-change was officially announced by WWE this week. A new report has revealed that Triple H gave a speech to the NXT locker room ahead of this move.

As per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Triple H recalled NXT’s earlier days, when the promotion began to expand beyond Full Sail Arena.

Referencing the Wednesday Night Wars, Triple H reportedly claimed that AEW came to their night and tried to bully them to another day of the week.

Here is the full quote:

“Okay so, the team meeting before the show tonight (Wednesday, March 31) about the move to Tuesday. So they started out talking about how, six years ago at WrestleMania 31, the little NXT promotion sold out a show and ‘look how far we’ve come’, since the San Jose show. And they’ve always been on Wednesday nights, and then the competition came to ‘their night’ and ‘tried to bully them’. Which by the way is the opposite of what they told the talent 18 months ago.

“But now, now they have Raw as the ‘lead-in’. It used to be in television the lead-in is where you (directly) follow the show, not the next day. But now they have Raw as the lead-in and the night to themselves, ‘everything is going to change’. They’re going to be going up in ratings probably a solid percentage.”

Triple H has recently said in an interview that he eagerly anticipates the move, hoping that the lead-in from Monday Night Raw will increase NXT ratings.

NXT will move to Tuesday nights from April 13. A big debut has already been teased for this show, with “Franky” promising to meet the NXT audience a week from Tuesday.
