A number of sources are reporting that two female performers have not had their contracts renewed by All Elite Wrestling (AEW).
As per Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Awesome Kong and Shanna have not had their respective contracts renewed by AEW.
Fightful Select (subscription required) has provided more details on the situation. It was reportedly known as far back as April that Shanna would not be returning to the company.
The report noted that there were rumors surrounding issues between Shanna and other performers, namely extras. Fightful Select stated that they had heard these rumors from talent, not AEW officially.
According to Fightful Select, AEW pushed forward the split of the Nightmare Collective when Awesome Kong was no longer cleared to compete. It was also noted that Kong had not been in the coaching role which was initially discussed for her.
Kong hasn’t wrestled for AEW since defeating Skyler Moore in January 2020. Shanna most recently competed in April, facing Leyla Hirsch on Dark: Elevation. Speculation as to their respective futures began following AEW removing Kong and Shanna from the company’s roster page over the weekend.
AEW Dark and Dark: Elevation are soon going to change format, according to Tony Khan.
