It has been reported on Wrestling Observer Radio (WOR) that two title matches will shortly be announced for SummerSlam.
While many will have guessed the plan having seen the matches being built on TV, they’re still two potentially show-stealing fights.
AJ Styles vs. Ricochet for the United States Championship, and Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Ali for the Intercontinental Championship.
Interestingly, WOR reported that the Nakamura match hasn’t been confirmed backstage, but it is very much the direction they are going in for the title. The two men had a title match at this past weekend’s Smackville show, which Ali lost, but it would suggest that this may have been a dress rehearsal for SummerSlam.
The current card is as follows:
-
WWE UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Seth Rollins
-
WWE RAW WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP
Becky Lynch (c) vs. Natalya
-
WWE SMACKDOWN WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP
Bayley (c) vs. Ember Moon
-
SINGLES MATCH
Shane McMahon vs. Kevin Owens
-
WWE CHAMPIONSHIP
Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Randy Orton
-
SINGLES MATCH
Finn Bálor vs. ‘Fiend’ Bray Wyatt
