More has emerged on Vince McMahon’s backstage role during Friday’s WWE SmackDown taping.
Following the announcement that Vince McMahon was stepping away from his positions as WWE CEO and Chairman, it was confirmed that he would be appearing live on WWE SmackDown later that night.
Prior to his appearance, reports revealed that McMahon had been ‘joking around’ backstage, appearing to be in a ‘great mood’.
Fightful Select (subscription required) has spoken with more talent about McMahon’s demeanor backstage ahead of Friday’s broadcast. One SmackDown talent noted that McMahon ‘wasn’t selling’ the fact he was being investigated.
Another name reportedly noted that McMahon was even more hands on than usual with Friday’s taping. They noted that he seemed happy, despite many expecting a tense atmosphere.
Sharing their take on McMahon’s bizarre promo, one talent told Fightful:
“He’s basically showing through his promo that he handles what’s in front of him and he’s not running.”
