A new report from Ringside News, who were the first to report that Seth Rollins would be taking some time away from WWE, indicates that Vince McMahon ordered for a complete rewrite of the SmackDown script on Thursday.
Until about an hour before the show, no matches or segment had been announced for last night’s episode of SmackDown, and we now know that this is because the company had not had their initial ideas accepted by Vince:
They had to re-write the entire show. Now we’re being told it’s a complete overhaul. A tenured member of the creative team informed us that the “entire show changed since last night.” A remark we heard made about last night’s meeting included the word “brutal,” because everything was slashed apart and Vince McMahon rejected the lot of it.
Following on from this Ringside News report, both Dave Meltzer and Sean Ross Sapp of the Wrestling Observer and Fightful respectively have noted that things were unclear with regards to the direction for the show until just an hour or so before.
