Dean Ambrose had his final match for WWE last night before his long-awaited departure. He and his Shield Brothers defeated the increasingly non-formidable team of Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre at a live show broadcast on the WWE Network.
So what next for the lunatic without a fringe? Well, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, very little.
Meltzer explained that the belief within WWE is that Dean will be going on hiatus from pro wrestling as a whole, and will not be heading anywhere else for a while.
Speaking in an interview on WWE’s YouTube channel and Network, Dean said:
“Let me stop you right there, because I already know what your final question is gonna be, okay? And I don’t appreciate people putting words in my mouth, and I don’t appreciate people trying to tell the story of my life to fit their narrative, okay?
“Eight years ago, I walked into this casino. And now I’m cashing in my chips, and I’m walking away from the table. I won the game. And what I do with the rest of my life from here on out, is my business. I answer to no one. This time, the million dollar man didn’t get what he wanted. Cause I can’t be bought.
“So if you’ll excuse us, it’s time for us to go do the thing that I want The Shield to be remembered for, and that’s kicking serious ass.”
While it is thought AEW is interested in Ambrose, it seems that he might simply be taking time away from the ring altogether.
