Report: WWE Concern About Getting Coronavirus Test Results Back For NXT Talent

Tonight, NXT is going to be putting on the first night of The Great American Bash two-week show. The event has some pretty exciting matches announced, including Sasha Banks vs. Io Shirai.

WWE only announced this event last week, and I’m sure it had nothing to do with the fact that AEW is also running their own two-week event starting tonight, Fyter Fest.

Well there is reportedly some concern within WWE that all of the NXT talent on the show and in the crowd will not get their Coronavirus tests results back in time for the show.

Fightful Select reported yesterday that there is some concern within WWE that those that need to test negative for COVID-19 to be on the show won’t get their test results back in time for tonight’s broadcast:

“WWE is undergoing more COVID-19 testing today ahead of Great American Bash, with some of the wrestlers coming in extremely early for their drive-thru testing. There was concern from some that the results wouldn’t be back in time, but the hope is that those tested will be ready for tomorrow.

WWE has indicated that social distancing, masks, and other measures will be mandatory moving forward, saying ” “As a reminder, wearing masks, sanitizing and social distancing will be required at the Performance Center this week and going forward. You’ll be required to wear a mask upon entering and we ask that you adhere to these requirements in order to minimize risks.”

As previously noted, NXT has booked some rather exciting matches for tonight’s show. Here’s what you can expect to see if you do tune in:

  • Io Shirai vs. Sasha Banks
  • Candice LeRae vs. Dakota Kai vs. Mia Yim vs. Tegan Nox – #1 Contender Match
  • Dexter Lumix vs. Roderick Strong – Strap Match
  • Aliyah & Robert Stone vs. Rhea Ripley – Handicap Match
  • Oney Lorcan vs. Timothy Thatcher

The show will also have limited commercial breaks, giving it a feel closer to that of a pay-per-view as opposed to a regular episode of TV.
