Report: WWE Doesn’t Feel Orange County Mask Ruling Applies To Them

When WWE permitted the friends and family of some of their roster members to attend the TV tapings last week of Raw and SmackDown, there were conflicting reports about whether or not the “fans” were allowed to wear masks.

Some stated that the fans in attendance were told to were masks, while others said that it was the fan’s personal choice not to wear masks. You can read more about that story by clicking here.

Following on from this, several people within WWE have now tested positive for Coronavirus, including backstage staff, production crew and even in-ring talent. One of those people is former Raw commentator Renee Young.

Following on from the positive tests, it has been reported that friends and family WILL NOT be at the next set of WWE TV tapings that are set to take place tomorrow and Saturday. You can find out more about that by clicking here.

There will still likely be NXT Performance Center recruits in the crowd acting as fans, and many people are of the belief that those shown at ringside for the shows should be wearing face masks.

A new ruling in Orange County actually mandates that anyone who leaves their house should be wearing a face mask, with the exception of those doing exercise. However, according to one report, WWE higher-ups feel as if the ruling doesn’t apply to them.

According to Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE higher-ups are of the belief that the company doesn’t need to have fans wearing masks because they film on their own property, the WWE Performance Center.

“WWE told me that the rule where everyone who leaves their house unless they’re exercising has to wear masks — they believe as of yesterday for Friday’s tapings — they believe that it does not apply to them because they operate in a private facility. That’s what I was told.”
