The ongoing saga between Candy Cartwright (real name Samantha Tavel) and Matt Riddle continues to unfold. Now, a new development has come to light as an email sent to Cartwright by WWE alludes to prior knowledge of the incident.
Cartwright accused Riddle of sexually assaulting her in early 2018. The two had been involved in a consensual affair at the time and Cartwright alleges that Riddle forced her to perform oral sex on him by choking her.
Now, David Bixenspan has reported that Cartwright received an email in January of 2020 from NXT official Drake Wuertz canceling two appearances she was booked for. The reasoning behind the cancelation was cited as past issues with one of their talent. Here is the email:
“Samantha[,] I regret to inform you that we will have to cancel your booking for this Wednesday[,] February 5th[,] as well as March 4th. Apparently[,] there were some past issues I wasn’t aware of with you and one of our talent that would not make for an ideal work environment. Good luck to you in your career.”
At the time, Matt Riddle was still a part of the NXT brand. He did not move up to the main roster until June of 2020 when he debuted on SmackDown.
