Ever since he returned to WWE programming two weeks ago on WWE Backstage, wrestling fans have been fantasy booking CM Punk’s in-ring wrestling return.
This was intensified when CM Punk seemingly didn’t completely shut down the idea of returning to the ring in the future on this week’s episode of WWE Backstage.
After being continually called out by former Universal Champion Seth Rollins, some have speculated that a CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins match is planned for WrestleMania 36.
Despite this, Wrestling News is reporting that WWE currently has no plans to have Punk work a match at next year’s big show:
“For what it’s worth, as of now, there is no deal between Punk and WWE. People close to Punk insist that there is no match booked or planned for WrestleMania and he has no plans to step in the ring in the immediate future.”
HELL of a “response.” 🙄. Coward. https://t.co/kJ9vKm3zhI

As has been stated several times since it was revealed that he will be appearing on WWE Backstage, CM Punk works for and has a deal with FOX. He does not work for WWE at this time.
However, this does not mean that the two parties couldn’t come to some kind of agreement in the near future. For what it’s worth, Punk didn’t seem completely against the idea when asked if he would ever return on WWE Backstage.
