Report: WWE On Course For Record Revenue This Year

Writing this report in the light of last night’s releases feels so wrong. According to latest reports, WWE may still be on course to make record revenue, despite the Coronavirus outbreak.

20 main roster stars, a number of NXT stars, several backstage staff and who knows how many others have lost their jobs, but the company is still looking at record revenue.

Speaking on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that WWE is still set to make a huge amount of money in this financial year, and may even break all records.

Thanks to huge TV deals with FOX and the USA Network, not to mention tens of millions of dollars being pumped in by Saudi Arabia, WWE has seen a huge increase in revenue in recent years.

In 2017, WWE made $800 million in revenue, which increased to $930 million in 2018, and $960 million in 2019, so as you can see, they’re doing pretty well.

Meltzer reports that WWE remains on target for a record year, despite everything that has taken place so far in 2020.

It could well be the first year that WWE makes $1 billion in a financial year, but that depends on how well the WWE Network holds up.

“If there’s zero network subscribers, which is not going to happen we’re talking about $850 million in revenue. It’s probably going to wind up being close to $1 billion, which is more than they have done in any year in the history of the company by far well not by far I mean but it’s more than last year which would’ve been the records and one year before and all that. It’s not as much as they counted on but it’s more than enough to be exceeding profitable.”

Well it’s good to know they’ll be saving around $4 million from all these cuts, because the company is quite clearly strapped for cash.
